A COMPASS ROSE IN A SEA OF STORIES

The way we approach media navigates our potential to see things differently.

As a marketplace, demand for impactful, inclusion-driven media is high and sells big.  As an art form, it can inspire us, anger us, excite us, shame us, and even scare us into change.

One of the coolest advantages to diving into content creation in the digital space is the opportunity to put the causes we're passionate about on the map in a way that maximizes reach and motivates audiences across cultures, generations, and mediums to rethink the status quo.

It's up to us  to create that ripple effect⏤to move the conversations that matter forward with our storytelling⏤and there's no time like the present to do it.

Challenge accepted. Let's make some waves.

ABOUT SAM

Sam Reetz is a Brazilian/German-American writer, actor, and media maker.  She is the founder, creative director, and editor-in-chief of Millennial Ethics, a Brooklyn-based startup charting a new course for millennials with digital media that’s intergenerational, impactful, and inclusive.

Growing up in Miami, Florida, her exposure to a melting pot of cultures and customs from an early age broadened the horizons of her storytelling and inspired her move to New York for college. She is an alumnus of Sarah Lawrence College and Wadham College/University of Oxford, where she concentrated in political anthropology (with a focus in refugee studies), behavioral neuroscience, and  jazz vocal performance.
As a performer, she has trained with CAP21, T. Schreiber Studio & Conservatory, and the Atlantic Acting School. Often cast in strong and self-assured roles, her approach to characterization is through the lens of our humanity⏤its strengths and its limitations⏤a chance for audiences to relate to and empathize with the unheard stories, to see old stories in new ways, and perhaps in the process, allow us to better understand our own. Her commercial debut with Modanisa's #JustLikeYou campaign (dir. Samah Safi & Muhammad Bayazid) reached over 1.76 million hits on YouTube. Other notable credits include: (Off-Broadway Theatre) Doris in The Owl and the Pussycat (Gloria Maddox Theatre, dir. Robert Verlaque), Georgie in Spike Heels (Gloria Maddox Theatre, dir. Robert Verlaque), Jo in Independence (CAP 21, dir. Doug Hall),  Shelley in Hooters  (CAP21, dir. Doug Hall), (Film/TV/Digital Media) producer callbacks on NBC's The Voice (Season 5), a Mardis Gras partier in FOX's The Following  (S1: Ep.9⏤"Love Hurts"), Avery Ardente in Don't Schmuck It Up (web series), Iris Keating in Not One (short), Jim Stark in Flip the Script (branded content), Alexis in Black Veil (dir. Sergio Torres) and, most recently, a cameo in the upcoming indie feature, Walk With Me (dir. Isabel del Rosal).

Equally passionate about crafting stories behind the lens, she got her start as one of the team of interns behind Ramaa Moseley’s debut feature, THE BRASS TEAPOT (Magnolia Pictures/Atlantic Pictures). Most recently, she was a judge for SLC’s 2018 Cinefest, a reader for the 2018 JHRTS Pilot Competition at NYTVF, and covered a selection of programming as accredited press at the 35th Miami International Film Festival.  Other notable credits include: 1st AD on the narrative short, CYCLE (from Anne Briggs/Marcus Johnson; DP Valentina Caniglia), Production Manager on TABLETALK (from Fishman Pictures and FullScreen; 2017 SeriesFest), and co-hosted with The Artist Co-Op (TAC) the NYC People's Hub for the 2017 Global People's Summit + Social Good. She also moderated the panel on "Startups Revolutionizing the Film Industry" at Imagine This Productions 2018 Girl Power Film & Media Summit and recently named a 2018 Global People’s Summit Fellow.
Millennial Ethics made it’s formal debut at the Made in NY Media Center by IFP with their 2017 Creative>>Founders Lab summer cohort and 2017 IFP Week Marketplace. The team is currently in development on an immersive concept about how we perceive fear in Trump’s America, consulting on the upcoming feature, THE HEART STAYS, with Amerinda, Inc., and prepping its soon-to-launch editorial platform, ON THE MAP.

Sam lives in New York City and is a proud member of: NALIP, HRTS Associates NY (Board Member, Graphics; previously 2017-2018 JHRTS NY Chair, Graphics), Jericho Project's Young Professionals Council (Communications Committee), Ladies of Comedy Association (NY Board Member, Marketing & Strategic Partnerships), Independent Filmmaker Project, Made in NY Media Center by IFP, New York Women in Film and Television, Dance Films Association, and Ellevate Network.
